So I was told to start a blog about food!! Well, it is something that we all love. I thought it might be fun since I'm always on the road working.
Let's start in Napa, CA!! Had a wonderful dinner at the CIA!! Not what you think,though, it's the Culinary Institute of America. The restaurant is called "Greystone."
Prices are moderate $20-$30 for entrees. The service was top notch. Since it was a Thursday evening, there was not much of a crowd, but I hear that reservations are recommended for weekends and special events.
The food.....yummy. A sampler appetizer plate "Today's Temptations," had several items including a tasting of curry soup, shrimp on a skewer, duck, and a pâ·té. It was a great way to start the meal. I found myself wanting more of the curry soup. Just a hint of curry with a creamy chicken base!!!
The main course ordered by our party consisted of a Braised Black Angus Beef Shortribs plate and a Prosciutto Wrapped Ling Cod. I found the Shortribs tasty, but a bit on the greasy side. The baby carrots were crunchy and flavorful. My dish was the Ling Cod. Fish is very difficult to get perfect, but my fish was cooked to perfection. Accompanied by a Broccolini purée, butterbean-olive-pepper relish, this dish was to die for. The fish was light and flaky and very moist. The puree was the perfect pairing. And while I love prosciutto, this rendition was not overpowering and blended very well with the fish.
Not a professional by any means, I will rate my "finds" on a 1-5 scale for food quality, price/value, and service.
Food quality = 4.5
Price/Value = 4.0
Service =4.0
I will be coming back here again!
